In “Insula Ursilor”, Regizorul Martin Rysavy continua explorarile sale pe tema Republicii Sakha, sau Yakutia, Districtul Estic Federal al Rusiei. Filmul capteaza viata rezidentilor celei mai indepartate parti a teritoriului, Nizhnekolymsky Ulus. Insulele Ursilor sunt localizate in Marea Estica a Siberiei, la gurile de varsare ale raului Kolyma. Camera de filmat urmareste padurarii care au grija de de rezervatiile naturale, in timp ce calatoresc spre o statie polara izolata, print vastul spatiu unde trecutul intalneste prezentul. Un portret al peisajului, a istoriei si a oamenilor care il strabat si il locuiesc.

Martin Rysavy

Martin Rysavy (1967) este un novelist ceh, scenarist si regizor. Autorul unor filme documentare, cum ar fi, Afonka nu mai vrea sa ingrijeasca reni, (premiul pentru cel mai bun film documentar, Jihlava IDFF in 2004), Cine ma va invata o jumatate de personaj? (2006), si Tara viselor (Premiul Pavel Koutecky 2010).

In “Bear Islands”, director Martin Rysavy continues his exploration of subjects related to the Sakha Republic, or Yakutia, Russia’s Far Eastern Federal District. The film captures the life of residents in the remotest part of the territory, Nizhnekolymsky Ulus. Bear Islands are located in the East Siberian Sea at the mouth of the Kolyma River. The camera follows park rangers who take care of the nature reserve as they travel to an isolated polar station through the vast space where the past meets the present. A portrait of a landscape, its history and people who inhabit it.

Martin Rysavy (1967) is a Czech novelist, screenwriter and director. Author of several documentary films, e.g., Afonka Does Not Want to Herd Reindeer Anymore, (2004, Best Documentary Film Award, Jihlava IDFF), Who Will Teach Me Half a Character? (2006), and Country of Dreams (Pavel Koutecky Award 2010).
