Incepem ziua cu dezbaterea “Buna guvernare in orase disperate”. Dupa proiectia filmului “Bogota Change”, la discutii vor participa Antanas Mockus, fostul primar al capitalei Columbiei si protagonistul filmului, Andrei Chiliman, primarul sectorului 1, Cristian Pirvulescu, presedintele Asociatiei Pro Democratextia si Paul Chioveanu, militant pentru buna guvernare ActiveWatch. Dezbaterea va avea loc la SNSPA, incepand cu ora 12:00, in sala 12 (Strada Povernei, nr. 6).

Proiectia este organizata in colaborare cu Asociatia Policy Center for Roma and Minorities.

Astazi: NOSTALGIA FOR THE LIGHT / Cinema Union / 18h00

First Screenings at One World Romania – March 17th 2011

On Wednesday evening, One World Romania Documentary Film Festival on Human Rights started off! We saw the first film – “Donation Addiction” – and we danced on Shukar Collective’s lovely music. Starting today, we have 5 more days, full of documentaries and great discussions with our guests.

We’ll start with the “Alternative Politicians” debate. After watching “Bogota Change”, we will have the debate, with Antanas Mockus, ex-mayor of Bogota and the protagonist of the documentary, Andrei Chiliman, Bucharest’s First District mayor, Cristian Pirvulescu, president of the Pro Democratia Association and Paul Chioveanu, an ActiveWatch activist for fair governing. The debate starts at 12 p. m. and it takes place at SNSPA, in room 12 (6, Povernei Street).

The second special event today is the screening of “Garbage Dreams”. Mai Iskander’s documentary will be screened exclusively for a group of Romanian and Roma teenagers, who study at No. 136 General School and for the Roma community in Bucharest’s neighborhood Rahova. “Garbage Dreams” tells an interesting story about the Coptic Christians living in the outskirts of Cairo, their sole in collecting, the garbage of the whole town and the way the appearance of private companies and high technologies put the future and therefore the survival of their community in danger.

In the evening, starting from 7 p. m. “Bogota Change” will be screened at the New Cinema of the Romanian Director (NCRR). After the screening, you can talk to the director – Andreas Dalsgaard and the film’s protagonist – Antanas Mockus.

Each day we will recommend one movie that you will definitely enjoy.
For today we have: NOSTALGIA FOR THE LIGHT / Union Cinema / 18h00

Atacama, the most barren desert in the world, has the clearest sky which allows sciences to research on the origin of life. The depths of the salty and dry land preserved testimonies of the pre-Columbian era and of the times of the mining exploitations as well as a history of the deaths of Pinochet`s repressive regime.
Documentarist Patricio Guzman gives a poetic touch to his inquiry in the problem of historical consciousness. His inquiry regards the responsibility held by a country willing to engage in advanced research in the age of the Universe, but is not willing to look back at the moral and social disaster of its recent history.
With the participation of: Cosmin Budeanca, historian and researcher at Institutul de Investigare a Crimelor Comunismului si Memoria Exilului Romanesc. The debate will be moderated by Doru Toma, the representative of the Rule of Law Program South East Europe of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation.
