Documentarul “The Perfect Belgian” are premiera internationala sambata, in cadrul festivalului One World Romania.

Vor sta de vorba cu cei interesati de fenomenul media, dar si cu oameni din industrie, regizorul Erik Gandini, producatorul filmului “Enemies of the People” – Matthew Torne si din partea ActiveWatch – Mircea Toma.

Recomandarea zilei: THE OATH / Cinema Corso / 14h30

Tot astazi, in cadrul festivalului One World Romania are loc un eveniment dedicat exclusiv liceenilor: cluburile de film One World. In cadrul evenimentului va fi proiectat filmul Mariannei Kaat, “Pit no. 8”.

International Premiere at One World Romania.

“The Perfect Belgian” has the international premiere on Saturday at One World Romania Documentary Film Festival. Director Kristof Bilsen discovers in a late 50`s film belonging to the his family archive an unknown world where Belgium and its citizens seem to be in an state of cultural and ethnic harmony. Looking for the qualities of the perfect Belgian, this road movie reveals the present-day state of the Flemish-Walloon tension which swings between linguistic exclusivity and nationalistic exhibiton, all in the context of a globalisation process that makes identity clarification difficult.
Kristof Bilsen will be here for the two screenings of his documentary – on Saturday, 8 p. m. at Union Cinema and on Sunday, 6 p. m. at Eforie Cinema (continuing the “Lone Samaritan” screening).

Saturday’s debate “Television, Power and the People” starts just after lunch. At 2 p.m. at Arca Theatre – La Scena Club we will screen “Videocracy” and the debate will follow. Daily recommendation: THE OATH / Corso Cinema / 14h30
“The Oath” tells the story of two men who worked for Osama Bin Laden: Abu Janda, his former bodyguard, now a taxi driver in Yemen, and Salim Hamdan, former driver, now a prisoner at Guantanamo Bay and the first man to appear before the controversial military court of the prison. By presenting the personal stories of the two, Laura Poitras manages to humanize and contextualize what Western media has demonized. As Hamdan’s trial progresses, we find fundamental flaws in the court’s system. As we follow Abu Janda’s interactions with his son, with youth in Yemen, with journalists and even his taxi passengers, he reveals the complex evolution of his values and belief system after the events of 9/11.
Journalist Luca Niculescu will talk to the audience at the debate following the screening.

Today we’ll also host a special event, especially for highschool students: One World Film Clubs. These clubs try to involve young people in the debate of human rights. The students will watch and talk about Marianna Kaat’s “Pit no. 8”.
