Jiri Menzel vine la Bucuresti pentru a-si prezenta retrospectiva

Jiri Menzel, regizorul premiat la Oscar si legenda vie a cinematografiei cehesti va sosi la Bucuresti pentru a-si prezenta filmele in timpul retrospectivei organizate de Centrul Ceh in perioada 16-19 mai, la Cinema Studio (Bulevardul Gheorghe Magheru, nr 29).

Intre 16 si 19 mai, publicul bucurestean va avea sansa sa vada sapte filme clasice marca Jiri Menzel, inclusiv primul sau film (Moartea Domnului Baltazar, 1965) si cel mai recent film al sau (In slujba regelui Angliei, 2006).
Este deja a patra oara cand vizitez Bucurestiul si imi face mare placere sa ma intorc aici. De aceasta data cu atat mai mult, cu cat prietenul meu apropiat, Jiri Sitler, a devenit ambasadorul Cehiei la Bucuresti”, a declarat Jiri Menzel, care va veni la Bucuresti insotit de sotia lui, Olga.

Sunt nerabdator sa ma intalnesc atat cu publicul, cat si cu regizorii romani, care reprezinta aceasta tara cu mare mandrie, peste tot in lume”, adauga Menzel.

Fara indoiala, Jiri Menzel reprezinta una dintre cele mai bune experiente cinematografice pe care o puteti avea din Republica Ceha”, spune Jiri Sitler, Ambasadorul Republicii Cehe in Romania.

Jiri Menzel va fi prezent la majoritatea proiectiilor, asadar publicul va avea oportunitatea de a-l cunoaste personal pe marele regizor”, spune Rene Kubasek, directorul Centrului Ceh.

Retrospectiva va debuta luni, 16 mai la 8 PM cu proiectia filmului “Amintiri” (1980). Filmul va fi urmat de “un pahar de bere rece” cu regizorul ceh, la Cinema Studio.

Celelalte filme ce vor fi proiectate in timpul retrospectivei sunt Micile Perle (1965), Trenuri bine pazite (1966), Vara capricioasa (1968),  Ciocarliile pe sarma (1969),  Sfarsitul vremurilor vechi (1989) si In slujba regelui Angliei (2006).

Biletul pentru o proiectie, inclusiv pentru seara deschiderii oficiale, va costa 8 RON. Abonamentele pentru 4 proiectii vor costa 24 RON si se vor putea achizitiona de la Cinema Studio.

Conferinta de presa sustinuta de Jiri Menzel va avea loc pe 17 mai, la ora 11, la Centrul Ceh.

Acest eveniment este organizat de Centrul Ceh din Bucuresti impreuna cu Ambasada Cehiei din Bucuresti. Partenerii principali ai evenimentului sunt distileriile Rudolf Jelínek & Valco.

Jiri Menzel comes to Bucharest to present his retrospective

Jiri Menzel, the Oscar winning film director and living legend of Czech cinematography, will arrive to Bucharest to present his films during retrospective organised by the Czech Centre on May 16-19 at Cinema Studio (Bd Gheorghe Magheru 29).

Between May 16-19 the public will have a chance to see seven classical films made by Jiri Menzel, including both his first movie (The Death of Mr Baltazar, 1965) and so far the last movie (I Served the King of England, 2006).

It is the fourth time for me to come to Bucharest and I always love to come back. This time even more as my close friend Jiří Šitler has recently become Czech Ambassador here,” said Jiri Menzel, who will arrive to Bucharest accompanied by his wife Olga.

I look forward to meet the great public and also the Romanian filmmakers who represent the country so well in the world today”, adds Menzel.

No doubt Jiri Menzel represents some of the best film experience you can have from the Czech Republic”, says Jiri Sitler, Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Romania.

Jiri Menzel will personally attend most of the screenings and the public will thus have a good opportunity to meet the director in person”, says Rene Kubasek, director of the Czech Centre.

The retrospective will be opened on Monday, June 16 at 20.00 by projection of the film “Amintiri”(1980). The screening will be followed by a “glass of cold beer” with the film director at Cinema Studio.

Other movies to be screened during the retrospective are Pearls of the Deep (1965), Closely Watched Trains (1966), Capricious Summer (1968),  Larks on a String (1969),  The End of Old Times (1989) and I Served the King of England (2006).

The tickets for the projection, including the opening night, will be available for 8 RON, passes allowing for 4 screenings will be sold at Cinema Studio for 24 RON.

The press conference with Jiri Menzel will take place on May 17 at 11.00 at the Czech Centre.

The event is organised by the Czech Centre Bucharest in cooperation with the Czech Embassy. The general partner of the event is Rudolf Jelinek & Valco distilleries.
