Cea de-a sasea editie a Festivalului International de Film de Animatie Anim’est va avea loc in perioada 7-16 octombrie 2011 la Cinema Patria, si Cinema Union, la Sala ArCuB si in Club Control din Bucuresti. In plus, Anim’est 2011 va avea prezentari la Cluj Napoca, in perioada 28-30 octombrie si la Chisinau, in perioada 3-6 noiembrie 2011.

Un loc special in cadrul festivalului va fi ocupat de o serie de animatii cehesti, iar Centrul Ceh din Bucuresti va fi gazda unor ateliere de lucru dedicate animatiei.

Un film de animatie dupa cartea cu acelasi nume a lui Jiri Marek. Patru povesti animate prezinta niste masini care apar in cadrul unor relatii de basm. Fiecare poveste este opera unui regizor diferit si a unui grup de autori. Prin urmare, avem de-a face cu un spectacol variat, format din parti distincte. Astfel a prins viata povestea unui scriitor pasionat, aflat in cautarea sufletului masinii.
La realizarea filmului au participat atat autori apartinand generatiei tinere (Libor Pixa, nominalizat la Premiile Academiei in 2010), cat si artisti cu renume, precum Bretislav Pojar. Michal Zabka este un regizor cu experienta in realizarea filmelor cu papusi, iar Frantisek Vasa, un regizor de animatie debutant.

Primul film de animatie cehesc 3D. Ultima parte a trilogiei inspirate de povestile lui Jan Werich este alcatuita, la randul ei, din trei parti. Cum au pierit capcaunii in munti – despre o expeditie in muntii Sumava din sudul Boemiei, pentru a afla daca padurile inca mai sunt locuite de capcauni sau daca acestia au locuit vreodata acolo. Palaria cu pana de gaita – povestea plina de nostalgie a unui rege ce hotaraste sa ii lase coroana aceluia dintre fiii sai care-i va aduce palaria uitata intr-un han, demult. Ratiunea si Norocul – cele două virtuti se intrec in a dovedi care dintre ele este mai presus, dar sfarsesc prin a-si uni fortele pentru a invinge Prostia si Ghinionul, schimbandu-i viata porcarului Ludovic.

Puppet Animation Workshop
Puppet Animation Workshop va avea loc in perioada 11-14 octombrie, la Centrul Ceh din Bucuresti. Timp de patru zile, 10 participanti cu varsta de peste 16 ani, cu sau fara experienta in filmul de animatie, vor avea ocazia de a parcurge etapele realizarii unui scurtmetraj de animatie cu papusi, fiecare avand libertatea de a-si da frau imaginatiei si a-si alege propria tema. Atelierul va fi sustinut de Frantisek Vasa, un cineast ceh specializat in animatia cu papusi, ale carui creatii au fost recompensate la cele mai importante festivaluri internationale de film. Una dintre cele mai cunoscute realizari ale sale este The Billiards, al 44-lea episod al celebrei serii Pat&Mat, aflat in competitia oficiala de la Annecy in 1995 si recompensat cu doua trofee la World Animation Celebration din Agoura.
Scurtele animatii rezultate in urma workshopurilor Anim’est vor putea fi urmarite pe marele ecran in cadrul Galei de Inchidere a festivalului, gazduite de Cinema Patria sambata, 15 octombrie 2011, de la ora 19h00.
Masters of Puppets – maestrii filmului de animatie cu papusi, pe marele ecran la Anim’est
La cea de-a sasea editie, Festivalul International de Film de Animatie Anim’est omagiaza, printr-o sectiune retrospectiva ampla, maestrii filmului de animatie cu papusi, de la inceputurile acestuia pana in zilele noastre. Fara precedent in Romania, sectiunea Masters of Puppets – Maestri Papusari aduce la Bucuresti unele dintre cele mai cunoscute filme de animatie stop-motion, cu papusi de toate felurile, dar si raritati – filme foarte putin vazute in intreaga lume. Ladislas Starevich, Jiri Trnka, Jan Svankmajer, Bretislav Pojar, Kihachiro Kawamoto, Gari Bardin, Riho Unt, Aurel Klimt, Marek Skrobecki, Adam Elliot sunt maestrii papusari din intreaga lume carora le este dedicata retrospectiva ampla de film de animatie stop-motion. La Bucuresti vor fi prezenti reprezentanti ai unora celor mai importante studiouri de film de animatie stop-motion: Piotr Kardas si Adam Ptak de la Se Ma For (Polonia), regizorul Mait Laas de la NukuFilm (Estonia), precum si Frantisek Vara, de la Animation People (Cehia).
Proiectiile din cadrul sectiunii Masters of Puppets au loc cu sprijinul Centrului Ceh, Institutului Polonez, UKRANIMAFILM. Partenerul sectiunii este Staropramen.

The anim’est International Animation Film Festival, established in 2006, has become Bucharest’s most loved film festival and a recognized event on the international animation scene. The presentations, workshops, master-classes and round tables provide the perfect opportunity to get in touch with the latest creations and make contacts. Among the great names who have visited anim’est, we proudly mention Bill Plympton, Georges Schwitzgebel, Juan Pablo Zaramella, John Dilworth, Mike Reiss… and our partner festivals, animation schools and guest studios all.
Within the festival a special space will be allocated to a series of Czech animations and the Czech centre in Bucharest will hold animation workshops between 10th and 14th of October.
Car Fairy Tales | Povesti cu masini | Autopohadky
An animated film based upon a book of the same name by Jiri Marek. Four animated stories show cars in fairy tale relations. Each story is the work of a different director and collective of authors. Thus a colourful spectacle joined with feature parts – story of a keen writer looking for the car’s soul was created.
Both young generation of Czech authors (Libor Pixa, nomination for Academic Award 2010) as well as renowned artist (Bretislav Pojar) participated in the film-making. Michal Zabka is an experienced film director particularly of marionette films, while Frantisek Vasa is a debutant of animated films.

The first Czech 3D stereoscopic animated film. The last part of Werich’s Fimfarum trilogy with three fairy tales. How the Ogres Died Out in the Mountains – A team of three filmmakers sets out to the Sumava Mountains in Southern Bohemia to find out whether Ogres ever lived there. The Hat and the Little Jay Feather – A fairy tale about old, nostalgic memories of long-lost youth. A king decides to hand over the crown to one of his sons, to the one who brings him the hat forgotten long ago in a remote mountain inn. Reason and Luck – A story where Reason and Luck are competing, but ultimately must combine their efforts to prevail over the Folly and Misfortune, changing the life of a pig herder named Louis.
Awards: Best Feature for Children at the ANIFILM Trebon 2011.
Festivals: Selected in the World Panorama section at the ANIMAFEST Festival 2011 in Zagreb and at the Anifest in Czech Republic.
Puppet Animation Workshop
Puppet Animation Workshop is taking place between October 11 and October 14, at the Czech Center in Bucharest. For four days, 10 participants, ages 16 and older, with or without any experience in animation film, will get the chance to go through the steps of making a puppet animation short film, with the freedom to set their imagination free and choose their own theme. The workshop will be held by František Váša, a Czech filmmaker specialized in puppet animation, whose creations have been awarded at the most important international film festivals. One of his best known works, The Billiards, the 44th episode from the famous Pat&Mat series, was part of the 1995 Annecy competition and won two trophies at the World Animation Celebration in Agoura.

In its 6th edition, the International Animation Film Festival Anim’est pays tribute to the masters of puppet animation films. It does this by means of a large retrospective, showing movies from its early beginnings to the present day. The section “Masters of Puppets” is without precedent in Romania, and brings to Bucharest one of the most famous stop-motion animation films, made with various kinds of puppets and other oddities that have rarely been seen. This extensive retrospective of stop-motion animation is dedicated to puppet masters from all over the world: Ladislas Starevich, Jiri Trnka, Jan Svankmajer, Bretislav Pojar, Kihachiro Kawamoto, Gari Bardin, Riho Unt, Aurel Klimt, Marek Skrobecki and Adam Elliot. The representatives of some of the most important stop-motion animation film studios will be present in Bucharest: Piotr Kardas and Adam Ptak from Se Ma For (Poland), the director Mait Laas from NukuFilm (Estonia), and Frantisek Vasa from Animation People (Czech Republic).
Masters of Puppets screenings are held with the support of the Czech Centre, the Polish Institute, and UKRANIMAFILM. Sections’ partner is Staropramen.
