COMUNICAT DE PRESA

Cinematografia ceha pe val? Centrul Ceh aduce in Romania cele mai bune filme independente

Bucuresti, 19 octombrie 2011

Suntem martorii a ceva foarte special in cinematografia ceheasca”, deschide brosura publicata cu ocazia festivalului de film nou cehesc ce va avea deschiderea in aceasta vineri in Bucuresti la Noul Cinematograf al Regizorului Roman (Muzeul Taranului Roman)  .

Off the mainstream: A new (new) Czech wave?” este numele festivalului organizat de catre Centrul Ceh din Bucuresti in perioada 21-23 octombrie 2011.

Proiectiile vor avea loc in prezenta reprezentantilor filmelor, fiecare dintre acestea fiind introdus de catre Mircea Dan Duta, director ICR Praga si expert in cinematografia ceheasca.

PRESS RELEASE

Czech cinema on the rise? The Czech Centre brings to Romania a festival of independent movies

We are witnessing something very special in the Czech cinema”, starts the brochure published on the occasion of the festival of new Czech film, which opens this Friday in Bucharest’s New Cinema of Romanian Director at Muzeul National al Taranului Roman.

Off the mainstream: A new (new) Czech wave?” is the name of the festival organised by the Czech Centre in Bucharest between October 21-23, 2011. During the festival, the public will have an opportunity to see Czech movies, which have recently collected prizes and acknowledgement around the world, while still remaining independent, experimental and made practically without commercial supports.

These Czech movies are back on the international film festivals, while the mainstream stays with the TV viewers,” say in the festival’s brochure Rene Kubasek, director of the Czech Centre and Mircea Dan Duta, director of ICR in Prague, which prepared the event together.

It seems that after long 40 years, following the famous Czech wave in the 60s and 70s, the Czech cinema is back,” adds Rene Kubasek. “But it is mainly up to the viewers to confirm this.

The festival will be opened on Friday, October 21 at 19.00 by a special free screening of “80 Letters”, an excellent feature film debut of Vaclav Kadrnka, which left a very positive impression at this year’s Berlinale. The screening will be followed by a Czech beer party.

During the weekend, another 7 screenings are planned, including Baba, voted best film in Cinefoundation section during the Cannes festival in 2008, or an ironic comedy Nothing against Nothing, which was successfully premiered this year in Karlovy Vary.

The screenings will be attended by the movies’ representatives and each film will be introduced by director ICR Prague and expert on the Czech cinema, Mircea Dan Duta.

The tickets are sold for 7 RON (10 RON for two, pass for 20 RON). The full programme can be found at www.czech-it.ro.
