Sunshine la Stufstock

Nu este deloc simplu sa cataloghezi stilul de muzica cantat de Sunshine, poate cel mai apropiat termen care poate descrie atmosfera muzicii lor fiind ”postpunk”. Influentele majore ale lor (The Cure, Bauhaus sau Public Image Lmt) pot fi recunoscute cu usurinta in unele cantece.
Chitari punk, efecte computerizate, sunete psihedelice, melodii puternice, tobe si clape… trecand toate cu o usurinta incredibila de la muzica retro a anilor ‘80 la murmurul futurist al universului si la muzica electronica stridenta; toate acestea acompaniate de sensibilitatea vocii lui Kay – asa e sunetul Sunshine.
Spre sfarsitul anului trecut Sunshine a scos un nou album “Nercomance (Digital Urban Icons)”, si acum se afla in turneul de promovare. In august, Sunshine vine la Stufstock, Vama Veche. Aceasta prezenta va reprezenta o premiera atat pentru festival cat si pentru trupa – Stufstock-ul va include pentru prima data o trupa ceheasca, iar Sunshine va canta pentru prima data in Romania.

It is definitely not easy to place the band Sunshine into a clearly defined category; perhaps only “postpunk” is close enough to describe the atmosphere of their sound. Should you have and odd feeling of recognizing The Cure, Bauhaus or Public Image Lmt. while listening to a Sunshine record, you are absolutely right, and the band itself is quite open about their major sources of inspiration.
Conglomerate of punk guitars, often skillfully disguised by layers of sound effects, psychedelic surfaces, strong melodies, insistent drum and keyboard lines effortlessly floating between the 80s retro sound and futuristic mumble of the universe, strident electronic bursts together with Kay’s emotional singing – that’s the Sunshine sound.
In the second half of last year Sunshine put out their latest record Necromance (Digital Urban Icons), currently promoted on their large European tour. This year Sunshine will perform at the Stufstock Festival in Vama Veche. It will be a debut both for the festival and the band – Stufstock will host its first Czech band and Sunshine will get their first chance to address Romanian audience.
