Michal Fronek si Jan Nemecek sunt profesorii departamentului de Design din cadrul Academiei de Arta, Arhitectura si Design din Praga (acea VSUP, de care va vorbim noi asa de des). In cadrul unui proiect au decis sa-si implice studentii in activitatile lor de sticlarit. Cinci dintre studenti au plecat apoi pentru 3 saptamani, pe langa granita Moravo-Slovaca, la atelierul de sticlarie Kvetná, unde sunt produse unele dintre cele mai frumoase obiecte de sticla din Cehia, cunoscute international pentru calitatea lor.

Obiectele realizate de studenti prezinta asa-zise reincarnari ale formelor realizate de mari maestrii sticlari in trecut, combinate cu design experimental propriu. Studentilor li s-a cerut ca prin lucrarile lor sa accentueze acea trasatura specifica sticlarilor de la Kvetná – capacitatea de a realiza piese identice cu cele din trecut, capacitatea de a modela sticla in acelasi fel.

Acest experiment s-a dovedit foarte interesant pentru ambele parti implicate – sticlari si studenti – care au reusit sa creeze niste obiecte valoroase, cu design nou. Hai si tu sa vezi rezultatul la UNA Galeria!

ENGLISH VERSION

Michal Fronek together with Jan Nemecek forms the head of the Design studio at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design Prague. They decided to engage students from the studio in their activities of glass production. Five of their students took the opportunity to work for three weeks at the beautiful Moravian-Slovakian border, where the glass workshop Kvetná produces superior handmade glassware that is traditionally known for its exclusive quality.

Objectives of the student work were defined as “reincarnation” of glass shapes designed by various artists in the past and creation of their own experimental designs of applied art. They were obliged to point out the high-spirited aspect of universal ability that the masters of glass in Kvetná have – they are able to manage nowadays what they managed tens of years ago.

Both sides – students and manufacturers – connected original ideas and high craftsmanship increasing this way the value of the glass factory production. You can see the results in the exhibition in Galeria UNA.
