Cehia are o lungă tradiție în domeniul sticlei și a porțelanului, dar a devenit cunoscută pentru acestea în secolul 18, atunci când produsele atelierelor și fabricilor cehe au început să se vândă în toată lumea. Renumită pentru marea varietate de modele și pentru calitatea manufacturii, industria a atras în acea perioadă artiști, designeri și clienți influenți.

Expoziția Brilliant by Design prezintă obiecte de design contemporan realizat de companiile cehe, subliniind continuitatea producției de sticlă și porțelan, prin selectarea unor exemple elocvente din ultimii 100 de ani – design tradițional inconfundabil,  design atemporal, obiecte unicat.

Vor fi expuse lucrări ale designerilor František Vízner (BOMMA), Jiří Pelcl (CRYSTALEX CZ), Martin Fait (CRYSTALITE BOHEMIA), Martin Žampach si Matej Chabera (KAVALIERGLASS), René Roubiček (MOSER), Arik Levy (VERREUM), Rony Plesl (AJETO), Zdeněk Lhotský (LHOTSKÝ), Jiří Pelcl (ČESKÝ PORCELÁN DUBÝ), Jiří Laštovička si Viktor Chalepa (THUN 1974) și Daniel Piršč (PIRSC PORCELAIN).

Expoziție organizată de Centrul Ceh și Galeria Galateca.

The Czech Republic is justly proud of its glass and porcelain. Already in ancient times, Celtic tribes made original glass jewellery in this region. The golden age of Czech glass and porcelain came in the 18th century, when the products of Czech workshops and factories were successfully sold worldwide.

Czech glass and porcelain production has always stood out for its accomplished craftsmanship, a rich variety of designs and excellent knowledge of foreign markets and their specific requirements. Also instrumental to the success of Czech glass and porcelain was the existence of an elaborate system of secondary and higher vocational schools, which the Czech Republic has been operating for the past 150 years. Furthermore, the Czech glass and porcelain industry has always been lucky enough to attract influential artists and designers, as well as customers.

The exhibition presents designer glass and porcelain made by contemporary Czech companies. It aims to specifically emphasise the continuity of the glass and porcelain production by selecting successful, timeless examples from the past 100 years.
