WANDERSPLITTER
Germania 2007, 96 min
Regie: Christoph Hubner
VO germana / Subtitrari in engleza

Un film prezentat in colaborare cu Goethe Institut

In prezenta documentaristilor Christoph Hubner si Gabriele Voss

ENGLISH VERSION

Wandersplitter are lost shell splinters. They get into the body, hurting it but they are hard to localize; producing a latent pain they move towards the heart, and if they reach it they produce death. This image belongs to Thomas Harlan, whose life and way of thinking let to the production of this movie. Thomas is an author, film producer, adventure seeker and nazi hunter. He talks, tells stories, thinks and makes pauses. This is how this movie is born: a trip to Moscow, a meeting with Hitler, the sacred language, the reabilitation of war criminals, protest actions, the relationship with his father, Veit Harlan (director of the anti-Semite movie Jud Sub). Thomas Harlan’s language proves the way memory works – non-fluent, with different moods and tones, with beginnings, gaps and annotations.

With this movie, Goethe-Intitut Bucharest begins it’s project “Traces of Memory”, that will be continued next year, concentrating on the filmic way of dealing with the past and the present. Gabriele Voss: “Actually, for memory and recollections there is no inappropriate duration. The nice thing about memory is that it moves freely in time, appearing out of the blue and kipping us tormented for nights in a role or disappearing in a split second. The memories last a life time.”
