Relevance and Perspectives in Art History and Cultural Analysis

Respins ca eveniment “local” si ca subiect marginal, feminismul in arta si cultura s-a impus, dimpotriva, ca un fenomen cu extensie globala, cu un impact direct, radical sau moderat, in functie de contextul diferit al fiecarui spatiu cultural. Arta si teoriile feministe au avut un impact si efecte majore in istoria artei incepand cu anii 1960. Sesiunea proiectata de Institut isi propune sa ofere posibilitatea unui dialog intre teoreticieni din diferite spatii culturale, a stabilirii contactelor dintre curatori, critici, profesori, si artisti romani si straini. Compararea perspectivelor asupra problematicilor feministe si discutarea modalitatilor de a explora istoria artei si cultura printr-un discurs feminist relevant pot contribui la transformarea atitudinii catre teoria si practica de arta feminista intr-un mediu firesc de discutie in Romania.

The Czech Centre invited the Czech art historian Zuzana Stefkova to contribute with the topic Feminism in the context of Czech and Slovak art education

Zuzana Stefkova (1977) has earned an M.A. in Art History at the Charles University, Prague. She studies a Ph.D. program at the same institution, her dissertation dealing with the Aspects of Embodiment in Contemporary Czech Art. She teaches courses on modern Czech art at the CIEE, Council on International Educational Exchange, Anglo-American University in Prague, and the Academy of Art Architecture and Design. She also works for the Centre of Contemporary Art, Prague, as a curator. As an independent curator and art critic she co-founded c2c gallery Prague and published articles in Czech and European art magazines.
